Write for Doublestop Magazine

Your article could appear in an upcoming issue of Doublestop Magazine. Read on to learn what we’re looking for and how to submit your work.

What is Doublestop Magazine?

Doublestop Magazine is an online magazine for string musicians and music enthusiasts.

What kinds of articles is Doublestop Magazine looking for?

Profiles. Memoirs. “Behind-the-scenes” explorations. History. Stories. Reviews. Fiction. Interviews. How-tos. Creative non-fiction.

What makes a good article?

A good article:

  • tells a story.
  • uses the subject of stringed instruments as a starting point, not necessarily the finishing point.
  • takes a stand and argues the case with a distinct voice.
  • teaches the reader something new while entertaining them.
  • is fun!

What doesn’t work well at Doublestop Magazine?

Overly technical or arcane articles won’t fit. Time-dependent and newsy content isn’t appropriate here, either. And, above all, avoid anything that focuses on “inside baseball” without making it accessible to a wider audience.

Who are we writing for?

The work should accessible to a wide audience of people interested in the topic. The primary audience will be string players, although not necessarily professionals. The work should also be interesting enough so that non-players might even enjoy some articles.

Anything else I should know?

Yes — contributors will be paid for their work.
